Vanilla Sugar
Vanilla Sugar has such a comforting scent, every time I open the jar and get that scent I am instantly hit with an acute nostalgia for my nursery days. I don't remember these days but these smells bring me there every time and I love it. It is reason such as this I love food so much it invokes memories so much better than any photograph ever could, Strawberries and cream instantly brings memories back of childhood summers playing in the warm glowing sun in the garden all day eggs on the other hand every time I eat one I am brought back to the memories of getting up for school on cold dark winters mornings so they are not comforting as all they make me feel is cold, dark, wet, the wet coming from living in Ireland and about I say 85% of the time going to school in the rain. Vanilla Sugar also make a good shortcut when baking anything that involves sugar and vanilla, if i'm out of vanilla or just haven't got the time, I substitute it with vanilla sugar it's also great when I can't sleep I add some to some warm milk and it usually does the trick. It's also a great way of recycling vanilla pods when i'm done with them i throw them into the caster sugar if i've used them in a liquid to add there scent to it I simply allow them to dry them out first then stick them in there.
Ingredients
1 x Bag Caster Sugar
3-4 Vanilla Pods
Combine Sugar and Pods. Store in air tight container.
